Our advertising got the attention of The Beaumont city officials who notified us they required $300K liability insurance.  TEXXAS was able obtain a specialty event insurance policy typically for carnivals, and all the planes had insurance except for the vintage World War II C-47.  Insurance was not available for it and they sued the city of Beaumont for possible loss of revenue.    We enlisted the help of USPA and particularly President Sherry Schrimsher, who explained they could also lose airport funding.  I contacted all the hotels that I had negotiated rates with as well as the surrounding restaurants who were going to lose revenue if we moved the meet.  These businesses helped put additional pressure on the city.

All this resulted in a lot of press and we had a lot of spectators and the DZ did a booming tandem for weeks.

The competitors were on their best behavior during the meet and the city was happy.

We solicited manufacturers and provided some exhibit space for them to show their products.

This year our raffle money and proceeds from the tortilla tossing contest was donated to the Airport Access Defense Fund since USPA had helped us navigate issues with the city of Beaumont.

After the Perris crash earlier in the year, and the Hinckley crash just days before the meet, we were in contact with USPA and were the first major event to make seatbelts compulsory.  It was going to be addressed by USPA as they were being pressed by FAA.

Some Norwegian jumpers organized a partial team and we helped them fill it.  The translation of Fugle Mokk is Bird Shit.
